Boulder County gets ready - New Comm Center and EOC

B. Ready #65 paid a visit to Sheriff Pelle on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the County's new Communications and Emergency Operations facility, which is under construction. The communications center is an example of preparative planning: built safely outside Boulder's floodplain (which can't really be said about the current EOC and Comm Center), the building will feature multiple power and computer back up systems, ensuring that support for first responders and citizens will be continuous during and after a disaster. Protective measures include back-up generators and a computer room encased in wiring that will protect equipment in the event of a lightening strike or other electrical overload.
