On Thursday, September 18th, B. Ready number 73 attended a FEMA course sponsored by the Colorado Division of Emergency Management, held at the Cortez Police Department. Representatives from the Montezuma County Health Department, the Colorado Division of Emergency Management, the San Luis Valley American Red Cross, Southwest Colorado Medical Reserve Corps, Firewise Council of Southwest Colorado and United Way of Southwest Colorado, came together to learn about some of the challenges and benefits of Volunteer Manegement and Development. "The class covered a lot of valuable information with regards to managing spontaneous volunteers and volunteer liability issues," said Tracy Hays, Director of Larimer County 2-1-1 and the class instructor. B. Ready number 73 was happy to be involved and learn new things from attending the Volunteer Management and Development class in Cortez. As a result, he now feels more prepared to work with a diverse population of compassionate citizens to make a difference and respond to and mitigate disasters and crises.
